do you ever make the mistake of giving too much to somebody, when they don't give the same back

i mean as regards as interactions go, it's just the way i was brought up, my mother was and still is very loving, over mothered me and brought me up very well, and me, i am very loving person, giving of myself.......but there's times online, when i make the mistake of being too giving to someone......and that other person doesn't give the same back or reciprocate the same sentiments? or just doesn't respond at all........then i feel angry that i was maybe too friendly with that person in the first place and angry that they didn't give the same back or didn't respond at all?

all i want to do is try to make a friend or two, find connections......what do you think the answer is?

Tit for Tat? I don't know if that's a good way to view your acquaintances here on SW. I'll tell you a story about a friend that my ex USED to have. His name was Mark, and he was VERY insecure. Mark would NOT call the ex if it was the ex's "TURN" to call him. He would wait forever and never call rather than just be a friend and allow the ex to call in his own time.

If you would HAVE a friend, you must BE a friend.

Here are some key characteristics of friends:

Honesty: True friends are honest with each other, providing constructive feedback and support.

Empathy: They understand and share your feelings, offering emotional support.

Loyalty: A good friend stands by you during tough times and remains trustworthy.

Humor: Friends often share a sense of humor, making each other laugh and lightening difficult moments.

Encouragement: They motivate you to pursue your goals and dreams, celebrating your successes.

These traits contribute to strong and lasting friendships, making them essential for meaningful connections.

But YOU have to start by exhibiting these traits toward the people you like, and with whom you wish to be friends. You can't sit back and wait for other people to do all the work!
