Do you think most kindness is a selfish act and can be psychological egoism because it always makes the giver feel good?

Being kind doesn’t make me feel good when I’m seething inside but kindness gets you much further in life.

I think that's relatively rare.

No. I think it's a mutually beneficial act.

I think you should feel good about giving but not brag about giving, I have given food and $$ to those in need knowing they couldnt repay me but feltI should help!!

yes, all of it is in fact. There is not a thing that you do that does not benefit you in some way

Kindness only feels good when its appreciated or reciprocated.

It becomes a selfish act when your only doing it to get something in return and it turns into a guilt trip.

Its why i dont accept gifts. A gift is never free.

Kindness can be a selfless act and still make you feel better yourself. Some people even feel joy at observing another's joy, even though there's been no giving or receiving between the two. I've read somewhere an Asian word for that: Mudita, meaning vicarious joy. I think feeling that emotion is an aim worth cultivating. If one has it, they must be among the happiest people alive.

In my experience as a volunteer, it seems that people who do an act of kindness, hoping to get a good feeling, are less likely to get that good feeling than people who are kind simply because they care for others.

I think it's wonderful when people have the means to help others and actually do it. Of course most people can only help others for a very short time.

No, I think rotten people desperately wish to bring good people down to their level.
If it's done with the intent of trying to get something in return than yes
I often wonder what acts SW ROBOTS are capable and/or not capable of... that's more concerning to me.

No. I believe that most acts of kindness are simply that, and they make the giver feel good because they are genuinely happy to help others. And even those who do good to show off, have still helped someone, and may inspire others to help, so it's not all bad.

Ew, who thought of this shit?

Can we please stop preaching hate?
MarineBob · 61-69, M
I wouldn't know
I think every energy exchange has either benefits or the opposite for both parties.
And sometimes being good to others will not make you feel good about yourself or have that Samaritan feeling. So I think not.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
No. Being kind requires a certain personality and it's a given trait for these people. It's how they are, not how they decided to be. In my opinion, most people are not kind, just nice and even when someone is nice it doesn't mean they feel good about themselves for it.

This seems to be the height of cynicism.

No. This idea comes from a misunderstanding of selfishness
