What bothers you the most on 'Ageing' and getting older?

I find I am more and more forgetful. I often type and send words I don't mean. Not to hurt others but these thoughts, these words just seem to come out in ways I cannot control. I need to know I am not alone. And no, I don't crave to be in a crowd. Merely cannot find the correct words to say what I truly feel. So perhaps it is merely a need to have others agree no matter what I speak? I think my Mom was the same way. Just wish there was a means too stop this. To prevent my words that hurt others.

Whenever a single word vanishes I think of it as a brain cell dying. THAT brain cell. After a while I'll plug in the space with a replacement or reuse the old word with the help of a reminder and I think of it as creating a new brain cell. When the old cells start dying faster than the replacements can be filled is probably the beginning dementia :)

A friend died of brain cancer and whole subject areas vanished, one at a time, fast. And there was no replacement. Like suddenly he couldn't add, or subtract, or even had a clue what 2+2 would be. A few weeks later he couldn't read.

What was most impressive, what seemed to bother him most, was that he was unprepared to die. Unfinished business, and no idea how to make his new house payment. Like getting in line to check out of the supermarket and realize you left your wallet, credit cards, money at home. I have the same fear. I'm not ready to die and the clock is ticking. I'm reasonably healthy and my replacement words keep up with my forgotten words, but I know the clock is ticking.

Very true! At one point I decided to let it all hang out and let them block me if that makes them happy. But I forgot your name Carla, sorry, what was your name again? Your words are sensitive and true.

My name is Carla. The third of 3 girls. My name came from my father who was Carl. Two older sisters were named for the grandmothers Nell and Harriet. I like my name better than theirs..

What bothers me the most is getting closer to death….only 2 men in my direct line ancestry have lived longer than I already have, and I don’t like that I’m slowing down & getting tired more easily.
