Bad idea?

Would a hang loose (shaka) tattoo be too weird?

I think it is kind of neat, but I would probably get tired of it later. I want to do a kind of reed up my leg. I saw someone with it at the beach before and it looked really nice, but I haven't found a picture of it yet.
