Is being too available a bad thing?

My cousin thinks I’m “too available” for my best friend and my other friends so much that I don’t have time to take care of myself. She told me the text messages and all will wait.
Some of my friends get impatient when I don’t text back right away but I have a life you know. Plus I have a job full time and they don’t.

I think it’s important to learn how to have boundaries with people and part of that is taking time for yourself, yes. That said, it’s also reasonable to let the people you care about know you’re in the middle of something and will get back to them at ‘abcd time’ then actually follow through with the time you give. This way you’re teaching people that you have boundaries, but also are still reliable and a good friend.
