I have weird fears. ..

One being that if I have a life aside from being a mum I'm not doing my job as a mum? Weird huh? Not sure if this is normal or not.

Fear of failing as a parent is quite normal. There is even a fear of having fears......its not the fear that always needs managing....its what are you/can go/will you do about it and prevent it overtaking your entire life. As a parent you do the very best you can in that day...that moment...that situation
..EVERY day....raise them to have morals, values, good character and to respect other....if they follow it..
Great! If they choose not to...that's on them not you!!

I had a fear of being weird. But then I realized I fit in with soooooooooo many others. ;)

I feel this way about being a wife.

I'm kind of like that too. It's like one task at a time and being a parent comes first.

@Snowvixen So far I haven't been able to change that train of thought with myself. I think I feel I will not be giving 100% to my kids if I am giving some attention to myself.
I think you have to be able to tell yourself that you deserve it. I'm just no good at doing that at the moment.
@Dainbramadge I have a hard time with it too, I was taught when you have kids you dont get to have a life? But then I go to therapy and I get you need a identity outside of that sooo...I'm confused.🤣

@Snowvixen I get very similar statements from my counselor as well. It's way better to be well rounded rather than just one thing. You can be multiple things and be well at them.
I think it is something that needs to be practiced like most situations like this. Start out small then advance from there.

I have a fear of properly living, it requires for me to invest and involves risk and that scares me

I'm afraid of geese that may sound silly until you've encountered a psychotic goose
