Maybe you are being too serious and when you make a joke, they take it seriously?
Like you are not really talking them in person, but you think you are talking them p2p.
There are a lot things(your facial expression, your movement when you talk, the tone of your talking) that can't be (accurately) expressed through the words you sent to them.

If you are looking for (more real)communication experiences, try use emojis馃馃槧/p.i.c/colored words/underline/combinations/different combinations, and so on, use your creativity and imagi馃槹natio馃彺n

Let's try this. Finished part one. Damn, it's too late now. I have to sleep at work tomorrow, then try something else later when I am off work. You are never too old to try something new.

Not a slang word I recognize?
A stirrer were I live is those small plastic stick things you use to stir your coffee.
I am a American.
Live in Midwest.

@SW-User ha, yeah, here there are a few like that too..it means the british version here as well. There are words I know Americans are bothered by, that i do my best not to use, but sometimes it will slip out because after al, my brain thinks in Aussie, and the same words while highly offensive to an American, I can call my best mate as a term of endearment

@Bushmanoz Fun talking to other folks, but the cultural barriers do get in the way at times
Bushmanoz56-60, M
Too true. I try my best, can't do more than that

Many things get misconstrued in writing plus a lot of people, I find, don't get the Aussie humour. That is unfortunate considering you enjoyed chatting with them. Cheers.
Bushmanoz56-60, M
@Zoranna yeah, but it's hard to think "hey, that's a bit aussie and obscure" it's just how we talk, cheers, have a good one
ZorannaF
@Bushmanoz I know it is. Thanks, you too.
