Would you be happy to receive a toothbrush for your birthday?
I'm considering purchasing an electric toothbrush for a loved one as a present. It is high end (if that should even matter) and I know it would be a useful gift. Thoughts?

A waterpik sonic toothbrush is a good gift. It's practical, and will do the loved one quite a bit of good.
That being said, I think everyone should try to give some thought to what the person might actually want. I still remember when the ex gave his mother a pair of tires for her birthday because she needed them, and she made it quite plain she was disappointed in his gift.
If the one receiving the gift is quite mature, and is an adult through and through, the toothbrush will be quite appropriate. If the one receiving the gift is child-like, skip the practicality and focus on appeasing the child.
