Don鈥檛 call the fire department. They told a teen boy that they didn鈥檛 do cat rescues from trees. Then the boy climbed the tree and fell and broke his back. The ambulance was called and they sent the fire truck with the ladder out before the ambulance got there, standard thing here. They could have saved themselves some time and the boy a lot of medical problems if they had just came out and got the cat out of the tree.

@mrmoose they can break their back when they fall though. I moved and had a cat...no screen on my kitchen window and it was balmy one morning in my apartment so I opened the window to get some fresh air before work and my cat got out. She went behind the apartment to the straight tall pine tree. I had to go to work and there was a cat on the ground staring up at her, I guess he chased her up there. I chased the cat away and then begged her to come down and she wouldn鈥檛 do it. I went inside and got the laundry hamper and told her to come down and jump. She still wouldn鈥檛 do it. So I told her that I had to go to work and if she didn鈥檛 get down now that I would leave her up there all day long...she decided to come down then and jumped into the hamper.
