I have a worried mind. Is there a way that I can maybe calm it down a notch?

In the past, I've experienced a great deal of betrayal and I don't want my past experiences to dictate my present.
I'm currently trying to work out all of my trust issues.
But my question is, "Why am I still suspicious and distrusting of others?"
I always seem to think that everyone's secretly plotting against me.
And this is probably going to sound really creepy but sometimes I feel that I have the ability to assess the thoughts and foresee the actions of others by observing them very closely(if that makes any sense).

Learn to trust you and your intuition. It never lies

@tolerantmongoose: Nope, it's b/c people do NOT trust their intuition, that's why they aren't right.

Gavin de Becker talks about how many women are raped or assaulted b/c they didn't trust themselves when their warning bells went off.

So many people put others down & call them "paranoid" & b/c most people listen to what others say b/c they don't like themselves, they start to believe that they are paranoid.

Society teaches people to listen to OTHERS instead of themselves which is one of the BIGGEST issues.

Of course they don't want us to listen to ourselves b/c then they wouldn't be able to control us (parents, church & state).

From a very young age most parents start trying to control their kids & telling them NOT to listen to their own intuition. By the time they are 10-12, the damage is already done.

Even women who have been cheated on often say that they knew something was amiss, but they ignored that voice in their head.

Now, what the OP said has some relevance to it. If a person has a lot of trust issues, then their intuition will be off b/c they are filled with fear.

One can only trust one's intuition once they start to get rid of the fear.

People often go into a meditative state to find answers that plague them, but you'd have to be doing meditation for a while to get the hang of it & understand when you are feeling from a place of fear vs. your higher spiritual self.

And calling people STUPID is mean spirited!

@tolerantmongoose: it's a muscle that needs to be used often. We've been taught to dismiss and ignore it. This is why you reply the way you do. Work with it instead and see what happens. I'm sure you already do and don't even realize it

@LittleBuddha: It's not just that they are taught to ignore it, society shuns or makes fun of any reference to the word "feelings" which is another way to say intuition.

And usually it's only women who use this word & why men have made fun of them at work (even at home) for so many centuries, that in order to survive, many women have had to start acting like men instead of their true selves.

And why men are not in touch with their feelings (not that women are so great at it either, but still...) & why boys are taught to stifle them, not cry & essentially it's not the only reason for war & violence, but one of the main reasons.

Just saying...

i agree with everything you say. But haven't we come full circle about us being "taught" to ignore it? By society, family members, dismissal of it...whatever....you just expounded a bit further which further drives home my point. Thank you :)
