What city to you recommend moving to in the US?

Hey guys,

I'm planning to move back to the States soon.

Just wonder where you recommend living.

I never want to live down south again, I don't like extreme weather (but it's negotiable if it's cold), I need a diverse city, and there should be public transportation!

Some that I've thought of are: Denver, Seattle (TOO EXPENSIVE), Portland, Madison, and Indianapolis.

Expense is a major concern (recentish college grad)

Hopefully your cities are awesome!

NJ tends to be expensive, but it has the diversity, access to NY or Philadelphia, beaches and mountains. There are 500 plus municipalities. Singles move to Jersey City, Montclair and Hoboken if they can afford it. Other cities such as Verona, Caldwell on the bus or train to NY.

Good luck.

@samueltyler2 thank you! I'm interested in NJ. If it's as expensive as the west coast, I'd prefer the west coast, but it's a bit cheaper... Also, is NJ fairly safe?

@LostNtheworld define safe? I don't think I'd want to live in Newark or Camden. Although Newark is being turned around a bit.

I think NJ is as safe as any place you'd want to live.

Cost, San Francisco and LA are way more expensive! Pacific NW has gotten expensive and you have to put up with funky weather.

@samueltyler2 Great question. I'm coming back to the US from a very safe country, so even the slightest bit of crime is distasteful. Realistically, I'm worried about violent crime.

The Pacific Northwest is so expensive! Everyone wants to live there (for good reason), but I'm not paying over half my salary in rent! Haha, thank you!

@LostNtheworld you can be safe or unsafe wherever you go. You have to be smart about how you live and travel.
