Why is he doing this and what's the best course of action for me?
Long story short he's an old friend. Has been for 4 years.
Now the last time I saw him on our camping trip (with family in the fall) he met my boyfriend briefly and was sort of cold and distant. We then stopped talking due to my new phone. We didn't talk for 8 months as he lives 4 hrs away from me but on June 20th he called me. I didn't return the call (had it in my head he hated me) but I finally texted him last Thursday. He responded very enthusiastically and was double or triple texting some of the time, etc. Asking questions and stuff. This was something he never really did before. He also told me that if I hadn't texted him, at the end of the summer (he's working as a junior forest ranger right now fighting fire hotspots) he would have gotten my number from my dad and texted me.
So he's acting a lot more enthusiastic and interested than before we stopped talking. It's awesome! But then he'll suddenly just not reply to a text and this has happened with all of our conversations so far. I waited 2 days before texting him again and still, nothing. But when I do text him he's very into the conversation. He just doesn't really initiate. Why is he doing this?
