Why do I still yearn for a past love?

A year and a half ago, I split from a love cause we were both too far apart from one another. We also had our own "challenges" to overcome.

I am getting my life back together, got myself in a good relationship, but lately, thoughts and feelings of this past love has emerged, stronger than ever.

It hurts. Not sure what it is cause I never felt this way before. She was/is something special, however, there are reasons why I should not go back to her as well as reasons why we belong.

Much confuse.

Idk, I have a motto...all is not lost as long as we have breath... But sometimes it's better to not try if it will only stir up things that just can't be.

The nostalgia will come and go and at least won't be constant. 😎

Oh I totally get that! It's like when the imagination interferes with your intuition and those spidey senses. Sometimes the best thing is simply to not try (so hard), don't force it. Do what feels natural and best for you and your well being. It'll all work out. 😌

You...I like you.

But thanks again for reading it through and being all introspective. Once I took a nap and woke up, felt better.

Got any tips to train that intuition? Play card games and guess what the other player has?

😊 Thanks. Hope it helped in some small way. Sleep can be a sweet thing, it resets us somehow.

Hmm, on the intuition I would say actually try not to think, and just feel, sense it...

Don't worry.I still love my high school sweetheart, though she did me dirty and it was 40 freakin' years ago!!

Yikes! It took me (and him) nearly 30 years to mostly get over my first real love.

Dang. How you folks held on to that for so long? And did you find a greater love (beside one you found within, that is a given)?

Aww, partly it could be nostalgia for what was.
Strong heart feelings usually don't leave or die simply because circumstances won't allow. And perhaps because it was left mid chapter, like an unfinished book. It seems pretty natural to have those feelings. They may wane with time. :-)

Thank you for your response.

But if I may also ask, does that mean I just deal with the ebb and flow of this nostalgia, or is there a way I can come to peace with it?

You're welcome. 🌞

More than likely just deal, unfortunately. These things usually just take time, ugh. Staying busy helps and stay away from triggers/reminders.

Is there no way to reconnect? Is all lost?

E-mail, phone number (do not know if it is the same number since she got a new phone), and friend with her sister's boyfriend.

She lives in another country so re-connecting is difficult(which may benefit me in a way).

Guess I just had to read it from another that I have to deal with it. No idea if we'll reconnect but I am working on going to school overseas.

I wish I had a better understanding of my intuition though. You know how your heart and mind can interfere with each other from just feeling the right path for you? It is not enough for someone else to tell me "oh that path is correct/wrong" but I want to know and trust in myself the path is right, that I will find better or will reconnect at a better time.

Sorry for the rant. Lack of sleep xP
You're not entirely over her I guess..

Nope, nor under. Like spider silk string you run into and as much as you try to wipe it off, it is still there.
