Assault rifle owners, what makes you feel like you need to own one?

I’m not attacking you guys but I’m just curious as to under what circumstances you think you’ll need even an nonautomatic rifle when all you need for self defense is really a pistol if you have to have one. I don’t mean hunting rifles I mean things like ar15s.

Ar 15 isn't an assault rifle, it's semiautomatic like a pistol is. Civilians can't own assault rifles since 1989.

@basilfawlty89 I said nonautomatic. Its a rifle thats not used for hunting.

@Captainjackass false, semi automatic means one round per trigger pull. Every gun outside of bolt action sniper rifles and shotguns are normally semiautomatic.

@basilfawlty89 False. Lever actions, single shots, pump actions, etc. So shotguns are in semi auto too and arguably the most commonly sold and used now.
Notanymore · 36-40, M
@basilfawlty89 not revolvers
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@MethDozer bolt, pump and lever you need to manually eject the casing , not semiautomatic.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@Notanymore yeah revolvers, but the question was in reference to long guns vs pistols.

@basilfawlty89 Correct Einstien. I never said to the contrary, you made the fLse comment that "false, semi automatic means one round per trigger pull. Every gun outside of bolt action sniper rifles and shotguns are normally semiautomatic."

Which I am explaining is false.

@MethDozer well spotted Sherlock, no need to be an asshole though.
