Should I avoid risking my life like this, from now on?

So today I ended up kicking an exposed, possibly live, wire near the road. The ground was moist and muddy, and as most of you probably know, it’s dangerous to go anywhere near a live wire, even if the ground is dry. The reason I kicked it was because I couldn’t tell if it was hanging, or fed into the ground by design. So I kicked it—it was hanging. So I got back into my car and called the fire department.

I know I could have killed myself, but I did it because I know that someone else could have died if I didn’t do anything about it. And unbeknownst to me at the time, the area was actually a school bus stop for children.

The wire was either dead or I was just very lucky. I’m fine. But for future reference, is it a bad idea to do that or something akin to it?

Always best to err on the side of caution. You never know the kind of power that could be running through that sort of thing.
I don’t think you should’ve done that at all.. it’s highly dangerous and should’ve let someone else take care of it

Just be more careful
