What do you normally do when you can't sleep?

I find hardships in sleeping and am wondering what you do when you can't sleep.
Truly, I haven't found the answer that works for me.
I'm reasonably sure that for me its menopause and changing hormones causing my problems.

But here are the standard tips that sleep experts advise:
Get at least some vigorous exercise each day to create real tiredness.
Don't drink alcohol because it reduces deep sleep, the kind that is essential for proper repair of mind and body.
Don't use either television, computer or cell phone for three hours before bedtime, and don't have them in your bedroom. The blue light inhibits the neurotransmitter, Seratonin, which controls the diurnal sleep cycle. Instead, do something like reading, writing, craft, or spending time with a friend.
Do have a hot shower or bath and a hot drink just before going to bed. As the body cools, this helps it relax into sleep.
Do have a pre-sleep routine at the same time every day, which helps prepare the body and mind and teaches it to expect that sleep will come soon.
Do get up at the same time every day, irrespective of whether you slept well the night before. This helps ensure sufficient tiredness by bedtime.
If you only average a total of five hours per night, then stay up until five hours before waking time. Then, once the body becomes accustomed to deep sleep, you can begin to slowly go to bed a little earlier, until you have reached the right duration for your needs. For most young women, 8-9 hours is the norm for good health. For most young men, 7-8 hours.

I get up and move to a spot outside my bedroom where I can read. Then I read something really boring or peaceful, such as poetry. It's the only time I ever read poetry. Plus, it has to be paper, no tablet, kindle, etc.
