How do I become more assertive?

I'm struggling with people hitting on my girlfriend and flirting with her and I don't know what to do. Dad never taught us how to deal with anything so I'm not sure what to do. I feel like I'm not strong enough, not man enough, not assertive enough.

I don't think your problem is lack of assertiveness. It sounds like you are insecure. Is your girlfriend reciprocating the attention from these guys? If so then you actually have reason to be insecure. If it seems like she's staying loyal to you then just try to get over it. In your attempts to look assertive you might come off as needy or controlling.
