What is more important? Truth or feelings?

I have come to think that there are things more important than being right. Than right and wrong. But are they also more important than truth and lies?

I could get hurt by someone's care to spout truth more than protecting one's reputation and feelings. I've come to think that some truths need not be broadcasted, especially if it will just cause offense or hurt that could easily be avoided. But someone cared enough to scream the truth out loud. Technically, they are not wrong. But it isn't even about them and they are giving the wrong impression about me by spouting such truth unnecessarily in a way that could easily be misinterpreted. And they're doing it to correct someone's impression, a person I don't even find worth my time. But the wording and how it was said could be thought ungrateful if it get passed to another, so I got offended.

If the subject of the truth doesn't care to tell people about it, does it even matter what others think?

Why can't they respect someone's choice to be silent? Or am I just being a hypocrite? I am confused as to what is right and what is wrong.

There is no universal answer.

You don't want to have cancer, that'd suck.
So should a Dr lie?

Everyone who has had more than one long term relationship knows...they can find someone else, that were replaceable....but still we use words like forever, always, etc.

We avoid the truth if it elevated our feelings.

@lovingdead well said.

You can't undo what has already been done by somebody.

If you can maintain your cool, you can just ignore. Otherwise you can try to communicate the truth in right way with correct point of view to whom it was wrongly communicated. You may need to find some indirect ways and help of others to do that smartly.

I personally would prefer the feelings over the truth. But you can't expect same from everyone.

My take for the scenario would be to ignore if I can, and take a lesson for future.
Truth is all in perspective. If someone thinks you're worth taking the time to (defend)correct another's opinion of you must matter a bit to that person.

The person they're trying to correct must also matter to them.

They may just feel 2 people who both matter to them should see each other properly even if they don't see eye to eye

@Justafantasy That...is a different perspective. Thanks :)
Some truths are more important than others, and more so in some contexts than others. And the same goes for feelings. I can't make a blanket statement about what's more important. It depends on the situation at hand.

It's a very interesting topic but joining it is liable to lead me down another endless SW rabbit hole; so I won't. 😄
The truth is always most important, but that doesn’t mean it’s always everyone else’s business.
I've heard the sappy Feelings enough for 2 lifetimes.

YouTubed this song. It's much better :)

Should a dad tell his daughter she's ugly? Tough call!
