What is more important? Truth or feelings?

I have come to think that there are things more important than being right. Than right and wrong. But are they also more important than truth and lies?

I could get hurt by someone's care to spout truth more than protecting one's reputation and feelings. I've come to think that some truths need not be broadcasted, especially if it will just cause offense or hurt that could easily be avoided. But someone cared enough to scream the truth out loud. Technically, they are not wrong. But it isn't even about them and they are giving the wrong impression about me by spouting such truth unnecessarily in a way that could easily be misinterpreted. And they're doing it to correct someone's impression, a person I don't even find worth my time. But the wording and how it was said could be thought ungrateful if it get passed to another, so I got offended.

If the subject of the truth doesn't care to tell people about it, does it even matter what others think?

Why can't they respect someone's choice to be silent? Or am I just being a hypocrite? I am confused as to what is right and what is wrong.

There is no universal answer.

You don't want to have cancer, that'd suck.
So should a Dr lie?

Everyone who has had more than one long term relationship knows...they can find someone else, that were replaceable....but still we use words like forever, always, etc.

We avoid the truth if it elevated our feelings.
