Did you realize that John Lennon's song Imagine is actually a song about The Communist Manifesto?

He said so himself. So the song is literally about asking to join the communist revolution. He himself "isn't exactly a commie" but the song is about it. Funny how so many people love the song and its message, and then go on to bash communism, not realizing Soviet communism is hardly communism, and most modern commies are either Marxist or Marxist-Leninist. I'm very Marxist, although I do share some Leninist ideas. But the song is definitely pure Marxist and now it's my favorite Beatles song, as it's a peaceful call to the communist revolution :D I suppose you could call it... Lennonism. :P Someone was going to make the joke.

Did John Lennon ever actually see communism in action? Not the bs propaganda version that they liked to broadcast to the west, but the actual day to day situation?

No? Then that's why. It's a nice ideal, but every time it's been tried it leads to a huge body count. Every. Single. Time.

Cultural Revolution in China. Collective farms in Russia. "Russian literacy is 99%"

Where are you pulling those stats out of, your ass?
101stairbornescreamingeagles
Oh brainwashed are they? I thought communism was some kind of miracle system were everything is happy shiny----oh wait. You think China's a fascist state😂😂😂😂😂😂

Jhon lennon's song imagine was a satanic pied piper song.. Leading people to destruction. by joining a delusion.. communisim.. How many millions of russians where enslaved and died for communisim? 50 million? 3 generations of suffering, for what?? NOTHING.. They sacraficed themselves and died for NOTHING...
AdamAPAD
Lennon was the most """bourgeoisie"" of the ""bourgeoisie"" living in a multi million dollar pad and playing exclusive concerts to the rich at the end of His life.. He mad a killing out of the naivety of people until someone shot him down..
FrankShore
That was a very mature, cogent reply on your part. The facts you offer and the logic you present can't be refuted. Oh, that's right. You didn't offer any facts or logic, you simply engaged in the type of ad hominem invective that has always been popular with schoolyard bullies. When you can't dazzle them with brilliance, call them names, belittle them, mock them, and if all else fails punch them in the gut or in the face. You claim to be 46-50 years old. What a shame you have the mental and emotional maturity of a six-year-old. xD, lol, :-)

@frankShore
:(( What ever comrade commissar.. Your opinion is valued at Zero to me..

I don't believe there is any connection between modern communism and the Marx brothers, Chico, Harpo, Groucho,· Gummo and Zeppo. In any event, I always preferred Engles over Marx.
On can always wonder what if Trotsky had run the Russian revolution instead of the mentally unstable, paranoid Stalin? Trotsky was a good guy.
FrankShore
I don't think so. George Washington had absolute power. His army wanted to make him King of the US. If he had wanted, he could have been our first king, instead of our first president.
FrankShore
Trotsky and Stalin were two different people. Moreover, Lenin was no Stalin even though he had absolute power. It was actually Stalin who made himself all powerful by killing off all his rivals.

Jokester lol

Yes, it's fairly easy to glean the communist theme, more imperatively, it's extraordinarily easy to glean the theme of the New World Order embedded within: "Imagine no religion, no countries…" The problem is that most people don't actually listen. Oh, the dark heart of the hippie dream. I presume you're all in favor of the one world economy and one world government?
thegoodrebel10
I realized it, generally, that it was about communism. But I didn't think John went that deep into the meaning for "Imagine". I'm a big Beatles fan. My family supports me being a Beatles fan and even buy me everything Beatles in gifts.

Thanks for that though, it's a pretty good punchline!
wallofnight
That's very true. I remember when he 'announced' it though it was more of a passing instead of an emphatic statement.
Actactualaredey
John probably had some good hash that day and was feeling all mellow. lol
wallofnight
That's very true, which is why his was a passing comment instead of a grand announcement or endorsement.
wallofnight
His indulgence was more heroin.

The problem with all government system is greed and lust for for power. Most communist countries are basically a dictatorship
. Funny because they tourn it into a religion. Blind obedience never question it or the all mighty leaders
Actactualaredey
John and Yoko were/are reputed as a major coastal real estate owners along the US East Coast. So much for the myth he was a Communist at heart.
FrankShore
Just because someone owns property does not mean they can't be a Communist at heart. Just like it is possible for nations with nuclear arms can support nuclear disarmament. Some people just don't believe in unilateral disarmament. Many wealthy people support an economic system that benefits the poor and middle-class. But it makes no sense for some wealthy people to unilaterally give up their wealth to better mankind, when other wealthy people are not ready to give up their wealth.
Actactualaredey
I don't think another "you go first" argument for suckers to believe in is going to convince me. Try again. Maybe if you use "we are all one" Trader Joe's "you do the work, I'll count the dough or you get the gulags" and Nikky K's informational shoe pounding lockdown you'll make better progress. I'm listening. Yup.
FrankShore
No, but I bet you didn't know the Star Spangled Banner was really a song about gays having sex.
Isn't the word "manifesto" a sexist word? Why "manifesto" and not "womanifesto." Did you ever wonder?
whiterabbit559
just listen to it. The lyrics are about no heaven no hell all the people living in peace meaning we are one no religion is even said dreaming imagine that. he is a dreamer
EarthlingWise
Yes, but it's called Imagine and remains very theoretical.
FrankShore
Not really. You first have to be able to imagine something before you can turn your thought into reality. Inventors first imagine their invention before they build it.
EarthlingWise
Some parts of the song are easy to imagine, some people are already there, but the last stanza would need a plan:" Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger."
I don't think John Lennon knew how to reach that state.

Lenin FTW
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
Lenin I can agree with was the greatest dictator who ever lived. He is definitely commendable. But as far as communism goes, I love Marx's ideas more. I do think some government is necessary as a means to facilitate and manage redistribution of goods and such, and to manage laws and stuff. So it is essentially a more authoritarian flavor of Marxism. So I say I'm a Marxist who agrees a bit with Lenin, but I am not fully Marxist-Leninist. I'm more Marxist.

Ever hear power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely
FrankShore
Ever hear he who laughs last, laughs best? Or when the bird of paradise flies over your head, don't look up. Or when the moon is blue, don't eat green cheese?
iguanachips
it's about atheism and freedom.
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
It's about communism. Google it. Marx denounced religion. Marx wanted a unified world. Marx wanted no private property (oft misinterpreted for personal property). It. Is. About. COMMUNISM.
KL30
are you retarded ?
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
Nope. Are YOU? Fucking Google it.
