Why do some men stay friends with abusive men?

Its interesting that you specified men. Almost like you didn't wish to draw attention to how comprehensively women back each other even through deplorable behaviour.

you'd have to look deeper into what makes them friends in the first place... but in any case, we humans are social animals who fear being alone and thus have a tendency to overlook this kind of things in fear of being left alone.


I'm not defending them however... Some things like abusing someone else are just way out of line with me. I wouldn't just lose any interest in being friends with that person, I would even turn against him.

I am sure that the abusive side does not come out when they are with their male friends and maybe the friends feel they should defend their friend and they have never seen abusive side so they do not see themselves as defending somebody being abusive do they

Some guys stay friends with abusive guys because before they were friends with that douche bag, maybe they were picked on or had low self esteem, and at least they have something to cling to now.

Same reason some women stay friends with women who call police on men when they haven't been abused or secretly get pregnant to trap a man and get paid

I don't understand men who go that far. I think a lot of men don't know the extent of the abuse. Many men will not act out in front of other men. As cowards, which many abusers are, they keep their abuse secret.

I guess they only see their friend's side of it and are only hearing HIS narrative. So whatever spin he's put on it---that's what they repeat. Heck, they may be abusers in their OWN homes.
