Hypnosis for anxiety

Has anyone had any experience with hypnosis to help them deal with their confidence issues?

I'm considering getting an appointment, but wouldn't know what to expect or recommendations.

I knew a psychologist who used to teach self hypnosis to help students with test anxiety. He had a very high success rate and even taught my wife the technique before a serious surgery. It mostly involves focus and concentration so I would go for it.
