Struggling with sobriety

so I called my sponsor. While at the park, I stared off at this tree for a while to try and forget about the dreams I'm having every night.

This morning I woke up, 112 days sober.

I tell my girl we often get the best stuff out of the hardest things we do. Be proud of your courage to do the hard thing! You’re doing an amazing job. 🤗🤗🤗😄
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@JustNik That a very good point. Thank you.

WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
You’re doing great! 112 days is no easy feat. Today is no different than past 112 days you’ve chosen not to listen to that lil voice and cave and just drink

It’s good that you’re admitting today is a struggle though, and that you reached out to your sponsor

I hope you are proud of yourself ❤️
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@WaryWitchWandering Thank you for that! I honestly didn't think I'd make it 3 months. So many times I was at the brink of trying to numb the memories and stop the thoughts entering my mind.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@Spumoni I get it, truly… it never actually helps and fucks things up more though
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@WaryWitchWandering It's only a band-aid and it'll still remain.
Spumoni · 46-50, M
Something I quickly wrote down in my journal from May 30th, 2022. This passage from my AA book really hit home.

Spumoni · 46-50, M
@JustGoneNow Glad to hear she's making visits.
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@OldBrit That's a powerful passage as well. My fellow AA buddies pounded that into my head. Then one day it made sense.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@Spumoni 💚

That’s awesome! Keep up the good work. I’ve been trying to make life changes for myself as well and while sobriety wasn’t something I’m trying to change, addiction to food as a stress relief is. So I know every day is a win when you’re trying to make your life go in a positive direction.
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@PassingThrough I've had to be really careful about my food intake. Using it to curb the alcohol was not the best choice for me.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@Spumoni this is one of my big fears, because I’m trying to get in shape again. I can NOT get any bigger or I will be very uncomfortable in my skin (more than usual haha)
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@WaryWitchWandering It's tough. Trying to find that balance.

Wow my friend, that is fantastic!! Good on you for reaching out to your sponsor and making it to 112 days...that is frigging amazing!!! You should be so proud of yourself...I am super stoked for you 🤗🤗🤗
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@Fantabulous Thank you! Sometimes I don't want to sleep because of the dreams. But I also want to sleep so I avoid the urges.
Punxi · 26-30, F
That's awesome!!!! Just for today I hope you find pride in that and add fuel for better dreams. 🙂👍
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@Punxi Thank you!
Punxi · 26-30, F
@Spumoni You're welcome 🙂

Good choice to call your sponsor. I remember hearing the three key actions on those situations are to call your sponsor, call a sober friend, and go to a meeting.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
I know it is really difficult for you. Well done on 112 days.
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@SweetMae Thank you. Those days I've almost slipped, like yesterday, really are a test.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@Spumoni It is good that you have a sponsor for days like those.
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@SweetMae He's a good person to have available.
Beautywithin · 36-40, F
Keep going! Taking it a day at a time is all you can do, but 112 days sober is something to be proud of.

@JustAmber Thank you!
That’s a real accomplishment. Addiction is tough stuff. Good for you. Do you keep a gratitude journal?
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@JustGoneNow I do!!! 👍👍
@Spumoni me too. keeping an attitude of gratitude is key. I have my own addictive tendencies. It’s not alcohol or drugs… but equally destructive. Be safe and be well. 🦋
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@JustGoneNow You too!
OldBrit · 61-69, M
I went through a roller-coaster in my first 18 months on about a 90 to 120 day cycle.

Keep going it will get better for your
