Here's one heck of a family tradition!

Marie Curie (Born Maria Skłodowska) won a Nobel Prize in Physics and another one in Chemistry.
Her husband Pierre Curie won a Nobel Prize in Physics.
Their daughter Irene Joliet-Curie won a Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

OK, now let's hear you brag about your family's bowling trophies!
I successfully completed potty training early. 💪

Nah. I will brag, instead, about my father's heroism, being shot down over Bastogne Belgium during WWII, and after two wars, returned home to earn his doctoral degree.

I will brag about my mother's carrot cake! And her Yorkshire pudding!

I will brag that my brother was valedictorian of his high school class, and was accepted to Harvard, (even though he chose not to attend), and went on to earn his doctorate in Paleontology and taught at Michigan State for 40 years!!!

And for myself, of course...NO ONE can mess up a kitchen like I can!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Not ALL of us are the royalty of the academic world, but we are ALL going to brag anyway!!! 🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou There is a lot there to be proud of!

As a pro bowler my mother had a greater income then those science nerds living off of their Nobel prizes!

@tindrummer Okay Wise man! Stick with the poster's comments which were Okay now brag about your:
OK, now let's hear you brag about your family's bowling trophies!

So, their contributions have nothing to do with what the poster was asking us to compare to! Right! Stay the course and keep on track!

@WillaKissing Denigrating Nobel Laureates with slurs is necessary to make your point?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@WillaKissing I would never denigrate people who devote their lives to science. You posted about making money, but that is usually not what motivates people to study science. I certainly value the contributions of the Curies and other Nobel scientists very highly.
I come from a long line of underachievers.

We coulda become Nobel prizewinners. We just didn’t.

I was second in the egg and spoon race at a school sports day when I was 8.

No Nobel prizes, but Phds, Masters, Halls of Fame, endless newspaper articles, etc., etc. in my family.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@ChipmunkErnie That's great!
Our families do not define us. I am not like any of mine so I only count my own independent accomplishments and gifts.
On Pop’s side, two generations out of slavery there were accomplished doctors, scientists and mathematicians.
@DrWatson They left that to the rest of us. 😉🎳
@bijouxbroussard I can’t help but feel that I would have absolutely loved to get to know your parents. They seem like such wonderful people, not just accomplished but warm, loving and wise.
@OlderSometimesWiser Thank you. They were very good people. Pop still is.
My Grandfather almost rolled a perfect 300 a week before I was born, he missed a strike in the 10th and only got a spare, I forget the score.
