@samueltyler2 No, you're correct, without cooling it doesn't. It does prevent sunburn/sunstroke. But we carry a small AC unit and a petrol generator for emergency cooling. The phone is only necessary if there isn't cellular coverage (which there is across the part of the Qatar desert I take people to). You need it if you stray into the so called 'empty zone'. There is a very efficient desert rescue service, too. Rather like coastguard/lifeboat service.
