School sports day
Yesterday afternoon we went to support our eldest daughter in her last ever sports day. While most of the girls were happily engaged in fun, not-at-all competitive challenges and races, our daughter of course chose to play in a rugby 7s tournament 😬 No need to direct us to the pitch, her dulcet Bristol tones could be heard from several fields away 🤦♀ The ground had been baked hard for weeks and the girls played barefoot, Kiwi style, to grip better. Strangely this served only to make them seem even more formidable. Her team got through to the final which they lost narrowly in a really good contest. Meanwhile, our younger daughter looked on adoringly from the sideline.
Sweaty, dusty and slightly bruised, my girl looked the picture of contentment as we drove home. The perfect epilogue to her school career 😊
