It's probably easier to appear homeless and poor, that way others can feel good about themselves!
I'm planning to get really old and run in a race for people who are one hundred years old, if I can - but I'm definitely going to run slowly and come in last - so the others can have someone to beat in a race! I think it's an important role.

@Roundandroundwego it's like reverse psychology. - You know it
Roundandroundwego · 61-69
@atlantic59 everyone gets to feel better about themselves;
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@Roundandroundwego and isn't that what we're here for anyway, right?
exexec · 70-79, C
Not many people showed up for my 50th and we didn't go to my wife's 50th the next year. It wasn't worth traveling 800 miles to attend.

Send someone to be you?
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@meJess Andy Kaufman would have done a good job at that and made me even better

I have five more years for mine. I no longer live in that state anymore either. I wish you all the best.
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@Musicman mine is on the other side of the country but my friend on Vancouver Island, who I've known for 50 years, we are planning to make it to reunite with some of our friends from then so it should be fun...I don't really care about the past that much. I've only been to the 5 year one and people then were already married and divorced and hardly recognized many anyway
Musicman · 61-69, M
@atlantic59 Same here only I moved from Virginia to Florida. It would be great to see some old friends again.

Why bother to go? Keep the past buried.
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
Why even go if you are just trying to impress people. After 50 years, does anyone even care?
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@JackDaniels I was just kidding about trying to impress anybody. I never could do that even in high school and hid my insecurities by distractions and being the class clown. I didn't even graduate. I finished grade 12 two courses short.

What you are asking, actually exists!
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@swirlie Yeah I've heard about that. There is even a service for grooms or brides with cold feet to have someoneone show up at the church and object to the wedding pretending to be an ex-partner ...so I imagine you can rent a family for a weekend
swirlie · 31-35
@atlantic59
Yes, you actually can rent-a-family if you want to! ...or just rent a date-for-the-day too!
