Teenage logic

Last night my daughter asked me to sign off her online school diary: a daily record of the homework she has been set, feedback from teachers, extracurricular pursuits, etc.

All good until I came across an entry for Tuesday lunchtime: 30 mins detention for throwing dough at another girl during food tech lesson 🤦‍♀

Me: "Why did you throw dough at Heidi?"

Daughter: "Because it sticks to clothes better than biscuit mixture." 🍞 👚 🍪

To which I literally had no answer 🤷‍♀

It's a great answer.

When you know you are in trouble, you might as well just take the piss.

(Remembers the job I do) Unacceptable behaviour.. she should be ashamed.

@Burnley123 Most of the time she is not actually being cheeky or trying to be funny. She just has a one track mind in certain endeavours and on Monday there apparently was no realistic alternative option to throwing food at her classmate 🤦‍♀

@SunshineGirl Well, in fairness to your daughter, the question was a bit ambiguous.

You could have asked, "Why did you throw something at Heidi?"

Instead, you asked, "Why did you throw dough at Heidi?"

I'm with your daughter here. In such a situation, careful selection of the weapon is critical to achieving the desired outcome! 🤣🤣🤣

@sarabee1995 We have family members who are on the autism spectrum and normally I am so careful to be precise and direct in my language. This time however I was just paraphrasing what a teacher had written . . 🤦‍♀

@SunshineGirl Makes perfect sense. There are people close to me who think I am on the "spectrum" and should get tested, but to be honest it wouldn't make a difference to me so I'm like no thanks. I am the way I am and I'm okay with that.
