I haven’t been in school for a decade yet I still have nightmares about it 😭

I’m a high school drop out (no regrets, I got my GED a year before my peers even graduated)

I hate it so much. I struggled with my mental health a lot as a kid/teen. I had an abusive home, Autism, апогеxiа, and PTSD/OCD (recent diagnoses, so I was struggling without knowing my issue).

This made me miss a lot of school because I’m an agoraphobe. I would go once a week or two weeks without showing up to class. I only showed up to take tests, turn in work, and collect my new work. At the time they didn’t let you do remote school unless you had a physical condition that bound you to home. Mental health issues didn’t count.

In my dreams, I’m filled with the anxiety and dread of having to come up with another excuse to miss school. The arguing with my mom about why I didn’t want to go. Feeling embarrassed to show up on the days I actually attended. 😡 I should have dropped out at 16 instead of 17.

Not much I can offer as advice. When you have those dreams, and you wake up, do you still feel like you're there, or do you realize it was just a dream?

@LordShadowfire I realize it’s a dream but I still have the body feelings of being there.

@666Maggotz Something I looked up due to my own trauma is to look around your bedroom, and identify items that you own that prove you're not there anymore.

@LordShadowfire that’s like a ground technique

@Catzgano It is. It also works on flashback you have while you're awake. The way it works is, when you have a nightmare or flashback, you might be consciously aware that it's not real, but your subconscious still thinks it is. You have to convince your deepest self that you're not in that bad place. Looking at your most cherished possessions that you keep in your bedroom can help.
