Back to school

My 11 yo niece starts secondary school today. She had orientation days last week and yesterday, but school begins for real today and finding your feet in a big school when you are only small is quite daunting.

I took her into school half an hour early, which is encouraged for the new starters. We found her form room and the locker where she can store her belongings. We worked out an itinerary of where she needs to be and when and I drew a sketch map to reassure her. She is sharing a desk with a friend from her old school, so at least I know she is not completely alone.

Her last lesson of the day is PE, which she loves, so even if everything else goes wrong she will go home on a positive note.

My duty is over for the day, but I am on tenterhooks hoping that our sweet little girl in her oversized blazer is not lost or in tears 😔

@Justme264 Did they have a good first day?

She looked very sweet and smart and we took lots of photos. Just as well, because I don't think it will stay smart for long!

@SunshineGirl No probably not....blazer may show signs of wear and tear at some poinr .. :)

Apparently they were ok.. one more apprehensive than the other

@Justme264 It is good that they will have each other for support 🙂

@SunshineGirl indeed... although the school puts twins in separate classes... I mean splits the twins up

@Justme264 Oh dear, I hope that isn't too much of a shock for them.

@SunshineGirl i think they will be ok... they knew in advance and sometimes they like their own "me" time awa from their brother
