Do you agree with this schools policy?

I read a story about an elementary school in the U.K.According to the story, the school had just installed a brand new, lamninated gym floor for their school. The school didnt want the floor to be scuffed up by the treads on sneakers, and going in socks would be a sliping hazard of rhe floor;therefore, the school required the students to go in bare feet for their p e. class. The story claimed that alot of the parents objected to the policy, but I think that it actually made sense. What is your opinion?

The Policy when I was at school was Pumps with light cooled soles, no Trainers allowed. Anybody who didn't have the right footwear did Gym in barefeet.
Then again I've seen boys have to do PE in their underwear after forgetting their shorts. My School came down on kids very hard. Although after the first PE session things got a little easier as a parent came in and assaulted the PE Teacher.

@VirginMatchmaker Some teachers needed a little "friendly advice" like that. They're very brave when they're picking on little children but it's a different matter when they're facing someone their own size.
@VirginMatchmaker Nice one parent!!! I hated doing PE in my vest and knickers!!! 🤢

Please note that I won't be answering any creepy PM's wanting to discuss this further - so don't waste your time.

@HootyTheNightOwl like the note that came with the post lol. I was lucky I never forgot anything because I knew the consequences.

The parent smashed the teacher into a glass cabinet. But he deserved it, he grabbed the kids pump and hit him across the head.
Tbh I teacher smashed some lockers up in temper while there too. So can sort of tell what sort of school it was lol.
@VirginMatchmaker Shouldn't have to be said - but, this is SW... and I've been asked about that before too.

Like the abuse that I did go through wasn't bad enough, now they want to go there and abuse me all over again.

I had a teacher who hit me, too - even though it was illegal. When my mother took it to the school... they'd interrogate me over days in a way that not only disrupted my education - but I'm almost certain that it's the sort of thing that would have been illegal for soldiers to use in war times.

I was called to the head teachers office (at random times of the day) , where he was, along with my mother and the teacher who hit me and I'd spend an hour or two going over and over the incidents where she hit me. They wore me down over weeks of that.

I'm glad that teacher got what he or she deserved.

@HootyTheNightOwl it was illegal to hit kids however at my Schools kids did get him. At Primary School a few kids got the dreaded Slipper.
It sounds so off what was done to you and it sounds like they were abusing you in some way with the help of your mother? Seems very strange what they did to you tbh.
@VirginMatchmaker The slipper wouldn't have had much effect on me - by then, my "dad" was controlling me with the slipper, his fist and the belt. I had next to no fear of them.

She would hit me with something like the thick end of a cue or some sort of round shaft that had been sawn off - it was about a ft long from what I remember of it today.

It wouldn't surprise me if my mother was in on what happened in the office, to be fair... my mother and the school saw no problem in threatening me with the local special needs school whenever they felt that I "wasn't putting enough effort into keeping my writing legible".

They seldom considered that I couldn't hear the teacher or read the board half the time - despite the fact that I was complaining on a near daily basis about these two aspects. When they did move me... it was "better" - but never the best for me.

All they had to do was let me choose where I sat so that I could see and hear the best at all times... but the seating plan didn't factor that in.
