Prayer
A recited incantation designed to force or cajole a deity or deities into changing the normal, existing, or probable course of events in the universe, obtain an advantage, or avoid a divine penalty. Also an expression of gratitude or adulation, or an affirmation of continual fear, made to a deity.

@BlueSkyKing Prayer is listening not speaking. When you speak you keep your words few as you express the yearnings of your heart. Nothing about prayer is an incantation or recital of meaningless words.

@hippyjoe1955 I’ve heard plenty of speaking and seen lots of texts. Looks like there is no need for consistency.

Prayer is like a hose.
Put it in the wrong direction, the fire will continue.
Too many holes in the hose, no water will come out.
Not enough water pressure, only a trickle will appear.
The more ( the water pressure) that believe in the same way (no holes) and put the payer in the correct direction, the more likely it will work.
If all believe the same way, there's no need for the prayers. The fire never existed.
