And MORE about God's WONDROUS world...Did you know that mushrooms are just the tiny, visible fruits of GINORMOUS underground TREES??? That mushrooms are not really a plant, and not really an animal?
THIS is real...
"The world's largest underground fungus is a specimen of Armillaria ostoyae (commonly called the honey mushroom or humongous fungus) in the Malheur National Forest in Oregon, USA.
Size and Weight
• Area: Covers about 2,200 to 2,385 acres (roughly 3.5 to 3.7 square miles, or about 9.1 square kilometers).
• Weight: Estimated to weigh between 7,500 and 35,000 tons (15 million to 70 million pounds).
• Depth: Extends an average of 3 feet (about 1 meter) into the soil.
• Age: Estimated to be between 2,000 and 8,650 years old."
Okay...maybe I digress...but I am always so impressed by the things GOD has created.

🤔🤔🤔 I wonder if it's not GOD which is the problem...but perhaps your church, and the things they tell you that you MUST believe?
Just speculating. If you TRULY want to believe in God, go out of your house and IN to Nature. Look at the absolutely wondrous beauty of forest, oceans, mountains, SKY.
And then if you happen to feel stupefied with AWE by the incredible beauty of it...start studying interconnected eco-systems!!! Intelligent design becomes apparent when you consider that this tree can't live without this animal...or that bird can't live without THAT flower! It's soooo amazing.
The main thing is that once you are outside...once you experience that sense of awe...concentrate on WHO created it!!!! Tell HIM you love Him for what he has done...for the beauty He has given you...and try to remember that HE loves you MORE than you can EVER love HIM!!!!

@emmyjade If you were in church and a guman came in and started shooting people, would you try to hide or would you jump up and yell "Shoot me!!).
Your answer will answer your question. Please tell us what it is.

Lots of gods, a whole realm of them, probably thousands. They don't create anything, they don't know everything, they don't judge anyone. Even the Judeo/Christian/Muslim god says there are other gods. They are sentient beings, like us, who have lived perfect lives and have been rewarded with some time in the god realm, maybe thousands of years, but eventually, like us, they die. They deserve our admiration and respect but not our worship. They don't really do anything.

@emmyjade I enjoy having freedom from religion.

I suppose if I was spanked as an adult it'd be a struggle for me too

Good- belief that's never tested is belief that's never held; if it never occurs to you to doubt, then it's not belief, just inertia. A great deal of the harm- and precious little of the good- that religion has done comes from the habit of reflexively taking on faith things that should be examined and explored.
Question them all- those who say "there is a God, and this is His/Her/Its/Their nature", those who say "there is no God", those who say "there are many gods, and we don't/can't know their natures", all of 'em. Question why Christianity's most rollicking hymns are written by a sect that doesn't dance, and why the Unitarians, gloriously uninhibited as their dogma is, can't write a hymn worth dancing to. Heck, question ME, telling you all this; I might have unspoken motives, too.
Read Augustine, and question why someone who claims to be such a fan of God says that His creation (Earth) is so awful. Read Aquinas, and be struck wondering why just so many people think that Marx was all that clever. Read Chesterton, and rage that the man had the audacity to die before you got a chance to have a friendly argument with him over a beer.
Ideally, discuss these ideas with others; help and be helped by them in your explorations. Deeper truths have kind of a funny aspect, in that they don't have the same impact if they're shared; they have to be found. You'd think that means that the value is in the searching, rather than in the truth itself, but that's not really the case.

It can be rather difficult to be objective over something you've believed in
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
I think that's part of the journey, to at least question things.
Adstar · 56-60, M
So what things are you unsure about?
Or what things cause you concern?
Or what things cause you concern?

@emmyjade It is heavily influenced by where and when you were born.

It's important to work out what the God that you do or don't believe in actually is. Is the cranky storm god of the Israelites actually real? If it is real, is that the sort of god that deserves worship?
.... Things like that...
.... Things like that...

If you don't question things how will you get your own answers?
DangerGirl · 22-25, F
I don't know if this will help you, but nature is solely responsible for providing afterlife. This only leaves one-sided conversation with God as a possible perk for believing.
ViciDraco · 41-45, M
Go ahead and give your Bible a good critical read from front to back without anyone interpreting it for you or picking specific passages to read and ignoring others. See if that changes how you feel about anything.
I'm not going to tell you how I think it should make you feel. If you wish to discuss it after I'm certainly open to that. But not trying to convert or convince you either way. Just trying to help you find your own mind on it.
