A church going atheist.
I go to church.
Do I believe in the Man up in the sky? Not really.
Do I believe that the Bible is the word of God and that He sent his only son to die for us? Hm can't say I do.
Or all those animals inside a big boat?
I'm a man of science and math and critical thinking.
But at one time when I had no hope, it was church people that helped. They didn't know me.
They did more for me than all my atheist progressive friends did with all their good intentions and all their Oprah like feel good quotes.
It was those weird church people who put food on my table, it was those crazy church people who checked up on me and welcomed me and didn't judge me.
So yeah, I go to church.
For a couple of hours I forget about my problems and find peace. Being in church quiets the storm inside and makes the sad and anger not so big.
Do I believe everything the dude in the front says?
Not really. But I don't need to.
