Banning books is disgusting.

Let the parents choose what their children are free to read. That's not your job. Especially blocking them based on religious beliefs 🤢. Stop

@chickiegirl95 The biggest mistake people make is to let control freaks deprive them of their freedoms.

@Unholymanswers ... Many schools banned "before I was rosa parks" and Obamas autobiography .... Then left "50 shades of grey" in their HS libraries..... You tell me which one of those is sexual?

@Unholymanswers my point is the books that were ok to be on shelves were taken out while others that needed removed weren't

Few books, movies & speeches banned in India during Congress rule.

Boston used to be famous for banning books, and movies...and well, lots of things. Banned in Boston was a well known saying.

Just want to say that quite a few librarians are out of their freaking minds, and they decide, without input from town or schools, to put some really raunchy books in the children's book areas. Don't know why they think that's so cute...but it's not.

If kids are unsupervised in a school library, they are going to have a look. That's not something, (at that point), that a parent can choose.

@4meAndyou my issue likes with a book about rosa parks being banned and Obama's autobiography..... But not 50 shades of Gray 🤦

@chickiegirl95 Black history should never be banned. That's just wrong.

It’s regression
People are less and less educated today
Parents are free to choose what their children read. Just because [your child's school] banned the book, nothing stops you from going to the book store and buying it for them to read at home.

It's not like they burn every single copy of a "banned" book... or we'd have no copies of the Harry Potter series left to read.

@HootyTheNightOwl they only ban ones that don't fit Christian ideology....
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Isn't it usually pressure from pushy parents that leads to books being withdrawn from schools and libraries?
chickiegirl95 · 26-30, F
@SunshineGirl unfortunately mostly the Christian ones wanting anything that doesn't fit their adjenda removed
