Which religion or religious tradition is true?

ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I feel like the word 'true' there does a lot of heavy lifting.

Starting with non-theistic religious traditions (religions where no god is necessary) there are various practices based in true things.

For example, there is the concept that acting with good moral character (Humaneness or Benevolence towards others) contributes to a "cosmic harmony" - sort of a Good begets Good ideology. I believe there is truth behind that.

However, there are also things that are more questionable. Such as "fillial piety" which takes form in ancestor worship and submission to parental authority. The guidance of parents is most often worthy of respect, but I have also seen some trash parents out there and submitting to them would be good to nobody (particularly in the case of adult children). That and I do not believe in ancestor spirits to be worshipped, though I believe we can learn lessons from the lives that come before us.

Moving into theistic religions (where a god is necessary) there are again aspects rooted in truth. However there are heaps and heaps of mythology that are not true. If the mythology was proven true, it would migrate into science instead of being faith.

Almost all religions have some semblances of truth, as almost all stories do. But none of them are true throughout, as far as we can demonstrate.

Christianity.. The Bible based kind..
@Adstar What kind of Christianity isn’t based on the Bible?
Adstar · 56-60, M
@LeopoldBloom Well it is the true Christianity when it is based on the Bible and the reader is caused to understand the scriptures by the power of the Holy Spirit..
@Adstar All Christianity is based on the Bible. If Christianity was only an oral tradition, there would be very few Christians today. The question is how you interpret the Bible. Of course, each of the 2000+ denominations thinks they're interpreting it correctly. Nobody thinks they're getting it wrong, it's only those other people who are.
The religion that has compassion on the people of the Gaza Strip.

I respect Paganism.
Due to its natural evolution, it seems like being closest to the truth.

Truth can be tested and demands to be tested. What you follow mostly depends on where and when you were born.
