@RuyLopez because theres no higher power. none thats proven at least. ooh you'll never solve pain and despair if theres no higher power, because we have feelings we could make it almost perfect however. but that requires everyone in the world to work together! which won't happen so i'm a realist.
but just imagine, you tell your child santa is real and you make him believe it until he is an adult. make him think others who don't believe in him aren't well in their head. now you'd call that child abuse. if 10 peopel did that, 10 child abuse cases. if 100 people do that. a small gathering or a cult. if a 1.000 people do that. a small cult. if a 10.000 people did it, start of a small religion. if a 100.000 people did it, start of a decent local religion if a 1.000.000 people its start of a less local religion. if a 10.000.000 people did that. its a full blown religion. if a 100.000.000 did that its a world power if a 1.000.000.000 people did this it would be world conqueror.
but its all the same its child abuse at a massive scale where you have the problem of "majority is truth" if one scientist a thousand years ago came by with the idea the earth goes around the sun he'd be killed because it was against their stupid doctrine. but that doesn't make it true.

you take away their drugs by whispering lies and sweet nothings in their ear. instead of helping their life back up. say theres good in people we'll help you, put them in a house get them a job and make them somewhat happy in this horrible society.
i'd rather help them with the cold hard truth. than lies. because if they lose that shitty religion again they'll be back to the bottle again. their vice was drugs, you just made it to religion.

A man lost his wife, to a drunk driver. he drinks himself to the point he can't take care of the child. the child gets taken away. his only light in his life. he goes to worse and worse drugs. than in that small moment before return someone finds him and says hey its horrible but theres this guy in the sky if you think of him if you die he might have your wife there.
YOU'RE SICK if praying upon someone weak to introduce to your cult is a right and good way to do things.
BUT if thats step 12 out of 12 and the rest works and is none religious i'll gladly accept step 11 method.

if all religion and science would disappear everything we did! and we restart from scratch, religion would form BUT it would never be the same. science would always get the same results!

@Gloomy i would start with your base, but put the highest value on alleviating the suffering of the worst off as a way to improve our shared state of being.
"Equality believers" and we would have dog yoga and karaoke instead of Jesus or Allah ceremonies. Anyone gets to stand in front of the mic and inspire one another too.
I wouldn't make a new religion because whatever it was based on would be distorted beyond recognition within a hundred years. Religion, like rock n' roll, only has one story.
@popmol I suppose . . . . and really, if you think about it you don't even have to fry your mind on drugs, but, well, it must be a great time because there sure are a lot of them doing it. I can say that from personal experience. I've been in a band or two.
I’d have some guy who left home into "homelessness" and eventually becomes enlightened sitting under a tree. Who then spreads some sort of message to help others who seek "unshakeable deliverance of mind". I'd call it the Dharma.
As some sort of emblem I would choose the Lotus Flower.

@popmol You seriously don't believe that it takes intelligent design to create what we have? If you saw a house in the forest, would you think it must have been built by a person, or would you think it was created by randomness? Our world is infinitely more complex, and yet you believe it was created randomly.
