If swearing is a sin (which from what I've read, it is a sin) and you swear before you die and don't have a chance to ask for forgiveness

Do you think God would still send you to hell for it? Even if you swore due to the injury or situation that caused you to die and therefore didn't get a chance to ask for forgiveness. Wouldn't that suck? Live a good life and try and follow what the bible tells you, and than you experience something horrific, yell "Oh Shit" right before you die. Then when you get to the pearly gates God tells you, well since you said that right before you died you can not get in and now you will burn for all eternity.

No.

Can't speak for everyone else, but in Catholic teaching something that is potentially mortally sinful (which is, if un-confessed, when you get into serious trouble), is only actually mortal as opposed to a lesser kind of sin, if it's done knowing it's bad, and also meaning or ("consenting") to do it.

Swearing by instinct which is what you seem to be talking about clearly doesn't have consent behind it (you never had time to think about whether you should swear or not before you swore).

So in other words, you're fine with regards eternal damnation.

Despite the best efforts of a certain kind of miserable Catholic who clearly wish they were really Calvinists, it's actually quite difficult to commit a genuinely mortal sin.
@Persephonee Would breaking a commandment qualify? Like working on a Sunday?
No, we are saved by faith and God's grace alone
@LordShadowfire No it's not a simple prayer like an incantation spell ( thanks Aron Ra🙄) it has a heartfelt belief in the sacrifice of the Christ, the one of the Bible.
the goal of Jesus to wipe out the Jewish people.
We both know that's his deranged interpretation.
@BritishFailedAesthetic I don't know. The Roman Catholic Church never removed him from their roster. Just sayin', lol.

@BritishFailedAesthetic I feel it's crazy to think anyone would be punished for all eternity for mistakes/evil choices made during a lifespan, which usually doesn't exceed 100 years

The doctrine that you have to ask God for forgiveness each and every time introduces a Works salvation doctrine into the minds of all who will accept such a doctrine..

But the Gospel says that if one believes Jesus and trusts in the Atonement He secured by His death on the cross one will be saved.. salvation is by grace not works..

There are a lot of false doctrines doing the rounds these days.. Get into the Word of God and get it direct from God so that you are then guarded by the works bondage religions..

I cannot believe someone would even think of a Being capable of creating this universe and life being so petty. Just blows my mind sorry.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@Axeroberts You don't understand the concept of a Perfect God with Perfect Standards do you...
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@Adstar Maybe the biblical God. But I do understand the Creator I know
Adstar · 56-60, M
@Axeroberts The ""creator you know"" does not exist..
If you fully believe there is such cruel and inhumane punishment waiting in the afterlife, then your sole task is to do whatever things needed to avoid it.

That’s the choice from an all loving and forgiving god.
Fucking hell. Swearing is a sin? I'm fucked. When did this shit happen?

In all seriousness, using cuss words is not what that is about. It's talking about swearing an oath.

Wouldn't hell be better than spending an eternity with that kind of monster anyway?
