I'm remembering a funeral service where the guy in the pulpit took the opportunity to forget the deceased and instead broke into this long long spiel about accepting Jesus as your saviour. (There was an old guy at the back who woke up every few minutes or so to cry out "hallelujah" then went back to sleep) After what seemed a very very very long time the guy said "I must now bring this to a close" and someone a few places along the pews muttered:- "Thank God for that!" which brought forth quite a few titters.
Just to add, someone once gave me some good advice - when any preacher is in full flow you just need to imagine Leslie Nielsen standing just behind them pulling faces.

Listening to a preacher reveal something you never knew is an awesome experience.. I love discovering more knowledge..

I call it being lectured. Where you are reminded, either gently, or not so gently, that once again you have failed to jump through all the correct hoops.

@Roundandroundwego Independant thought is even more important

@thatbuggerpaul if you have no coherent ideology you're not making sense. That's what you might call independent delusional thought. I guess you don't need to be correct to beat the crap out of everyone! No ideology? You certainly don't want one!

It's one of my least favorite things in the world. Also my mother's favorite pastime. 😑

It reminds me too much of being at home with my old dad

I love a self-righteous person telling me why I'm wrong. It turns me on. 🥴

They come and go around here. Seems we'll get a few months of preaching then it'll go quiet for a time then they remember this is a place and come back to it again...
Or maybe it's constant and I'm just blocked by a bunch of them because I'm one of those people who like to go around popping their echo bubbles.
