Nah. I think its compassion and a balanced ego that makes people nicer.
@JonLosAngeles66 thanx for BC man 🤗

Do you see holy wars as being nice to each other?
hunkalove · 61-69, M
Religion is the most evil thing that has ever happened to this pitiful broken planet. It's all about fear, hate, and feeling superior to others.
@hunkalove I was going to answer this question but brother, you said it all. Thank you!

Religion has nothing to do with how a person acts or reacts with others. However a spiritual renewal such as occurs in Christianity does have an effect.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@JonLosAngeles66 Did I ever mention anything about nicer?
@hippyjoe1955 “ However a spiritual renewal such as occurs in Christianity does have an effect.”
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@JonLosAngeles66 Yes. It does have an effect. However 'nicer' is a subjective term that does not apply here.

As with many things it can be a source for good and for evil. Generally, it should make people nicer to each other.
Extreme is Extreme.

No it causes conflict and divides people if anything

No, not that I've ever noticed.
Lol somebody voted yes.
Reject · 26-30, M
It does in my experience. I’m one experience though. I’m sure there’s cases where it doesn’t.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
Yes and no I think. Different religions say different things

Or people interpret those religions differently

I’m actually a little surprised at all the hard “No”s. I thought there’d be more “Sometimes”.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
No I don't think so
Laffytaffy · 22-25, F
@jjoe01 Being spiritual is better than being religious.
@Laffytaffy darn tooting!

Objectively, it absolutely does much of the time. It depends on the religion and the group. No denying there's some toxic religion around.
Many people who are not part of religion or have had a bad experience go on a confirmation bias trip and add up all the negatives. But there's too much evidence to the contrary that groups that get it right can be incredible human beings, and it's also been my experience all of the world.

I think it gives some people a reason to care about the well-being of humanity. For others it gives them a reason to hate those who don't believe as they do. As with many things, people tend to shape it into whatever they want it to be, for their own purposes.

I have been ripped off by more religious people than you can shake a bible at.
"Science flies you to the moon. Religion flies you into buildings.”
― Victor Stenger
When a person loves and lives for Christ, they receive the Holy Spirit and the characteristics of the Holy Spirit living in us, or what is called "the fruit of the Spirit, is what produces love, peace, joy, compassion IN the follower's heart and life. Unless they're faking it, which many do, unfortunately. They give real followers of Christ, a bad name. And they'll answer to God for that.

I think religion enhances the niceness of people who would be nice anyway. It doesn't seem to do much to improve not-nice people, unfortunately.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
Nice people are nice with or without religion
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Nice people would most probably be nice with or without religion.
It should in theory. But organized religion rarely does. People focus more on judging those who don’t follow the rules their religious teachings dictate.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! It certainly does not. It's just one more thing for our idiot species to divide over.

No, religion doesn’t make people kinder towards each other. Kindness depends on the person not their religion. Many religious people aren’t kind.
smiler2012 · 56-60
no sadly it does not just look at the middle east between the jews an muslims [jonlosangeles66]
Adstar · 56-60, M
Depends on the teachings of a religon.. Some teach to love even their enemies.. Some teach to smite the necks of the unbelievers..
The worst things I have experienced have been over religion and in religious communities.
spotoftea · 56-60, F
I think it depends on the person. In the end, religion or not, everyone is responsible for their own behaviour. Although, loving your neighbour is something that needs to be practiced in the world today, but I really think it's far too late for that.
