have you ever converted from a religion to another ?

or a sect to another ?
yes in a manner i have. i was lds or mormon at one time now atheist . who study's many things so . yes i think that is close to what you asked. and if i might ask was you always in the religion you are in now. . born into your faith.?
@markansas
I was born into it 🌿
Why do you ask?
@Islamreligion the reason is a better understanding. you were born into a faith and it is what you know. if you were of a different faith and changed in to this faith then there would be a reason for the change.. i was not lds till i was in my mid 20s and that lasted bout 10 years . i think having something to have faith and hope is important. mark
@markansas
I was born into it indeed
But I found my own faith that exists in the heart not just by name like some brand or another number in some statistic , found my own truth after long research (still continues till death )
and chose my own views.
Thank you
I was raised Catholic, but then when I started examining religion, I thought it made more sense to go by the Bible itself, so for a while I considered myself Protestant. But then, as I grew up, I was able to accept that religion as a whole is nonsensical. Today I'm Atheist, though I do love Christian imagery.

Yes was raised presbeterian and left the church in my early teens . Naturism is my chosen religion and life style .
Ceinwyn · 26-30, F

Ceinwyn · 26-30, F

I am an agnostic. My Grandmother on my Mother's side is a Universalist Christian, my Sister, my Brother-In-Law and their children are Fundamentalist Christians and the rest of my family are Atheists.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
I think I am but it's not to anything currently in existence as an official "religion". I think religions are too stuck in their beliefs. Things need to be updated as knowledge increases.
EvilEmma · F
i found the idea of believing in a god really appealing a while ago.. but it just makes no sense...
@EvilEmma so you are atheist now ?
EvilEmma · F
@Islamreligion yeah... i was one and it was a phase where i found religion kinda cool.. but i figured i was just pretending tho believe
@EvilEmma can I ask what was your faith ?

@SW-User May I ask what?
SW-User
@Islamreligion My religion is a mix of ancestor veneration with Roman Catholicism.
SW-User
There was a time when I almost lost my faith in God completely.
SW-User
@Islamreligion On the contrary, it was a wake-up call.

No, but my faith now is a whole lot different from what I had years ago. In some ways, I'm a bit of a heretic.
@exexec I'm telling God on you.
exexec · 61-69, C
@BohemianBoo We've discussed it, and He says I'm okay.

ServantOfTheGoddess · 61-69, M
@Islamreligion I adore my wife but I worship my SW Mistress 🥰
As they say on Facebook, "it's complicated."
@ServantOfTheGoddess so you have a wife and a mistress ?
ServantOfTheGoddess · 61-69, M
@Islamreligion Yes. I am only in touch with my Mistress on here, though.
Bandit2398 · 51-55, M
I converted from Christianity to Mormonism back to Christianity then to atheism.
@Bandit2398 kinda me too.. tho some would say mormon is christan
Bandit2398 · 51-55, M
I converted from atheism to Christianity to Mormonism back to atheism.
I don't feel the necessity to convert in order to follow specific religion's ways.

No, Christian for life
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Yes. I was raised nominally Christian. Was an agnostic atheist for most of my life and a few years ago converted to Zoroastrianism.
@basilfawlty89 what made you make such choice ?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@Islamreligion for a while I read the Gathas (the Holy Book of Zoroastrianism) and it resonates with me deeply. It also shared my view of what God is.
@basilfawlty89

@reflectingmonkey I am Muslim and I do not believe Islam is evil .
This post is not about attacking other religions in case you misunderstood.
It’s about respectfully sharing an experience

And
It is easy to pick verses out of a religious book or refer to a random site to call a religion evil
Such as this one for Hindu scripture:

https://vedkabhed.com/index.php/2014/05/15/killing-infidels-in-vedas/

Instead , one should do their accurate research
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@Islamreligion first point: I have simply shared my own personal path and change in perspective, there was no attck on anyone and if you take some personal offense its your responsability. I have no need to insult anyone and i am not the one saying things like "in case you misunderstood" or " one should do accurate research" which are not so subtle forms of insult.
second point: there is a big diference between hinduism and other religions and its that the vedic litteratures are open to debate and interpretation and no one will claim the the totallity of vedic litterature is the actual "word of god". there are branches of hinduism which are actually atheists. so to find one passage is one vedic text which makes no sense really doesn't cause any issue, these texts have been written over long periods of time and each person should choose what part they agree with and what part they don't agree with, its the whole beauty of it. but saying that in no way am i saying that any of it is the "absolute truth" . I don't believe in knowing.
third point: there is a reason why I said agnostic leaning towards advaita vedanta, advaita vedanta have a saying which is " neti neti" which means "not this, not that" meaning whatever you may think about god must be wrong because to think that with our feeble mind we could comprehend something like god is silly and chances are that when we do that the model we will create in our minds of god will be over simplistic and anthropomorphic. I have no "beliefs", instead I discipline myself to be at peace with not knowing.
@reflectingmonkey
So you have no beliefs and no religion
Okay thanks for sharing
