if a man can man a man and a woman can marry a woman . a many poly marriage should be legal also

just my thought
@markinkansas That is a good thought, you could marry 10 guys together and nobody would blink. They would probably think you were a singing troupe or maybe a curling team.
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@JamesBugman be my guest.. i will watch ya .
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@markinkansas I agree

BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
If we are going to allow men identifying as women to compete in women's sports ...

How big a stretch is it to allow a marriage to include three people instead of two? Polyamory is a thing .. why should they be denied rights if they are granted in the above?

Fight me.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@BrandNewMan Nah, having vast amounts of wealth and manpower all under one banner isn't a threat to people you disagree with, nah lol. Atomized individuals are where the competition to power is at...
BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
@Therealsteve The truth is its about Christian religious values and legality issues around inheritance, taxes, women/childrens rights, etc .. not about fears of a family challenging the state in the modern era because polygamy gave them more power than any other multibillionaire would have. But you do you.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@BrandNewMan I recommend looking up the Mormon war.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Polygamy is generally associated with coercion and compromised rights for women. That is why it is illegal in most western countries.

Incidentally, if two legally aged men and a woman wishe to get married, would you feel the same?
@SunshineGirl They claim they want their marriages to be biblical. Solomon had what, 10 wives and numerous concubines?
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@SunshineGirl Yes, it does. I recommend looking up the Mormon war or other religious identitarian collectivist programs throughout history. I did a bit of it myself, whilst in Malaysia.

@NativePortlander1970 And last time I checked, he was meant to be the wisest man in the world, and the architect of God's most sacred temple...

Well the point of marriage is placing one person above all others as the love of your life and life partner.

You’re not really doing that with two people.

Well the point of marriage is placing one person above all others as the love of your life and life partner.

That may be the point of your marriage. Historically thought, marriage was about economics, survival and family tradition. Even today, half of marriages end up in divorce, and some studies suggest that 40% of married people end up having affairs.
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@LadyShagw0rthy not in the old testament .. how many wives did solomon have ?
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Technically u could make like a marriage certificate. Have someone do the ceremony and all 3 of u sign the marriage certificate. Now u can't like put all 3 of u on taxes and such.
When one of the women divorce, they still want half of everything. Now the second one divorces and takes the other half.
Cripes, it is bad enough with just one.
You could always join Islam, with that religion you are allowed up to 4 wives.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@JamesBugman Well yeah, if you want the benefits of something, it also comes with the associated responsibilities and potential losses.
@Therealsteve Haha yea, and I imagine all the ladies have to be Isamites and they will rat you out for any offences you make. Still, might be fun for a few years.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@JamesBugman Well, again, that's the case with anything.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
In many countries you can do exactly that. Polygamy is legal under Islamic law.
Tracos · 56-60, M
Why get married in the first place
RosaMarie · 46-50, F
@Tracos I love someone so much I want to get the government involved?
Tracos · 56-60, M
@RosaMarie exactly and confirmed with a signed contract
hunkalove · 70-79, M
Why would you want the government's permission? Just do it. None of their business.
Of course. They can enter into a private agreement and register with an Attorney.

Let me get this straight: you want to make polygamy legal? Even the mainstream mormons would have a problem with that.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@Northwest There isn't one person called "the church", with all the same opinions. I know some in the church who want it returned and believe it will return, and others who aren't so up for the idea but wouldn't challenge it.

You keep bringing up the US law, I'm not an American.

@Therealsteve
There isn't one person called "the church", with all the same opinions.

You claimed to be a member of the LDS Church. If you have a different opinion, then you can't call youself a member of the LDS.

So if you, and those who want polygamy back and recognized by the LDS, lobby for it and effect a chance. Otherwise, if you consider yourself a member, there's nothing ambiguous about how the LDS Church treats polygamy.

You keep bringing up the US law, I'm not an American.

I was very specific in response to the issue you raised and was very specific as well, when I discussed countries where polygamy is allowed under Sharia.

Where did I misinform?
