Amazon gift cards... virtually everyone has an Amazon account and you can buy just about anything.

all depends on your budget and how close you are to the couple...
can go anything from a gift-card to something personalized... like a pair of luxury engraved pens, or a commissioned fine-art portrait, or a matching his & hers leather wallets...
all of which would fit conveniently in a suitcase.

A useful set of high quality things for baking and cooking. Knives are fine in checked luggage. A really nice Japanese chefs knife would do it.

What you got laying around the house you don`t want anymore? 😬
Why not buy at the destination so you can get something not as small and lightweight? Do they not have a gift registry?
Ah, because you're not going. If someone else is taking it for you then I'm sure they'd appreciate a few ounces of coke. :D
I usually give an American Express or Visa gift card. This way they can pick out what they’d like rather than something that I chose which might not be their taste or what they need/want and ends up sitting in a drawer for the next 25 years.
