Do u think couple's that spend thousands of dollars on a wedding last longer then people that spend very little on a wedding

The more money spent on Weddings usually does not bode well. Unrealistic expectations lead to more disappointment when things are not as perfect as they hoped.

Money doesnt matter 💛🌻

@Lilnonames I think that was a wonderful thing to do Lil

I think the money spent doesnt matter. I have been married twice. 1st wedding was a huge wedding. Fortune spent, 250 guests. Lasted 17 years. 2nd marriage, small chapel, only 18 invited. 31 years and counting

I suspect the opposite. People with that much disposable income would presumably also have feasible alternative options to remaining in an unhappy marriage if things go wrong.

The national average cost of a wedding in 2023 was $35,000. I suppose that would be thousands of dollars. The divorce rate remains more than 50%.

As long as the wedding ring cost a minimum of a month' salary, or saw DeBeers has us convinced.
Nope. If I remember a study towards that correctly, the couples with the cheapest weddings last the longest, on average of course. Don't go for a cheap wedding to guarantee it to last. It doesn't work that way.

@NerdyPotato Kind of funny I had a cheap wedding and I been married all most 7 years
I find the opposite is true.... IE: those that don't spend much on their wedding usually stay together longer.

It is simply not the same "contest" to see who can "win" that those having the biggest, flashiest and most elaborate weddings participate in.

my wedding 1n 1969 i save up 200 dollers i paid for every thing counting my parents myself and her parents and her, best man there were 8 people
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@dominateofyou kind of feels like spending a lot for a wedding is a curse
longhairedcougar · 51-55, F
Regardless of how get this done, none ensures the longevity.. it's the compatibility that lets you sail through I reckon!

What prompted you to ask this anyway?
dominateofyou · 61-69, M
The boss i worked for spent 30,000 on daughters wedding not counting cash he gave them next year she had a kid year after that they divorced
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
There is a difference between a wedding and a marriage. Many people don't know that.
Blondily · F
It was cheap, just me, the future hub and my parents in a chapel. Still going strong.
My parents' wedding costed 30k dollars and they divorced after 16 years
Turtlepower · 36-40, M
No. If anything there is probably an opposite correlation.
MaryDreamilton · 46-50, F
Strange, unanswerable question.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@MaryDreamilton I seen a video of a person talking about this. Couples that spend a lot on a wedding their marriage don't last long. Kind of curious if it is true
MaryDreamilton · 46-50, F
@smileylovesgaming I saw, not I seen.

"Do u think couple's that spend thousands of dollars on a wedding last longer then people that spend very little on a wedding"

I'll ignore the silly "u" as an abbreviation for "you".

"Do you think couple's what?" What belonging to the couple do I think?

"then people that spend very little on a wedding". Then people that spend very little on a wedding what? What do people that spend very little on a wedding do after a couple's whatsit that spend thousands of dollars on a wedding last longer? Sorry, but I can't make any sense out of that. Please enlighten me.
IDK, but the debt certainly might!
Lilnonames · F
