Many people think that envy and jealousy are one in the same, however, there are two important distinctions.
Jealousy is derived from the fear of having someone or something taken away from you, whereas envy is feeling upset about not having or being able to have what somebody else has.
Example of jealousy: "Jane sees John is going out with Jill and is afraid that she'll steal him away."
Example of envy: "John wants a new car and is mad that Joe got one and he didn't."
And in answer to the aforementioned query, yes, I've been known to become jealous... And envious.

I haven't been jealous since I was in college and my future wife was dating other guys. I suffered in silence. She assured me that I had nothing to worry about, but I still worried.

I don't get that way anymore, but when I did, I agitated the situation feeling my argument was irreproachable.

Jealous of what?
MentalDisturbance · 36-40
@SilentObZerver of anything
SilentObZerver · 26-30, M
@MentalDisturbance I think of jealousy as a feeling in motion....
something to observe rather than act on.
Then I try to figure out whether there’s really something to be jealous about or if it’s just my mind reacting

Other peoples happiness isn't contingent on mine own.
MentalDisturbance · 36-40
@Lostpoet So how do you handle it when you get jealous?
Lostpoet · M
@MentalDisturbance I remind myself that them being happy doesn't affect my happiness. Plus they probably got a baby dick or sumptin.

@FreestyleArt This makes sense, the materials part. Only we can’t pretend that when we experience jealousy we don’t feel a certain way. Like if we get bothered we gotta deal with that, just curious as to how each person does.
When I experience it it’s because it how I feel and haven’t make made that an expression of mine yet. Means I have work to do to bring that out of myself and into my world. Same shit over and over again nothing new to share, it’s jus falls on me and only me to do what I gotta do when jealousy arrives.
