@theclocks: So some think. Although we're not entirely sure. Observing other primates suggests so, but on that same token, humans' ability to think rationally might have overridden that. At least one gender doesn't cannibalize the other, like spiders do.

@hartfire I don’t believe it’s all that morbid . Lots of my friends do enjoy the transition of power and the temporary loss of freedom in the bedroom that being a submissive affords . We aren’t talking whips and chains here , just rope and a blindfold . I’ve read studies that suggest that it’s authoritative women with a higher IQ that tend to enjoy this power relinquishment . It’s not unhealthy and it makes sex more fun .
I’m certain that there are pathological variants to this as well , however that’s not what she asked 😉

@Celine: yes of course . I just wondered what you meant . For me being submissive is sexy ... it can almost be an art form of sorts , and affecting my husband to get what I want ( his uncontrollable desire for me) is the goal . While I don't refuse his desires I still control the situation and the outcome ( mutual satisfaction and bliss ) . And he feels like a man , dominant and secure ... just like I want him to . And I get to enjoy being submissive .

My friend has described to me she enjoys it because she is a bit of a control freak on other areas of her life so for to not be calling the shots and having to worry about what she needs to do instead just listen and submit is releasing for her. Personally I am not into it but to each their own

Men, biologically, had to compete with other men for resources to impress a mate. They had to be able to hunt savage animals and fight against other men. As a result, men became naturally strong and dominant and the female more submissive.
