Is it fishy for a 17 year old girl to wanna date a 14 year old boy?

@Souls Why would she be charged with anything if the boy is fully agreeable. You can't charge a person with a sex crime if no crime has been committed.

@zonavar68 You didn't read what I said; I made this comment because when she turns 18, she will be considered a legal adult; he is underage and, regardless of his consent, he is still a child. I'm not sure where you're from, but in America, you'll be charged, placed on a Megan Law registry, and sent to prison.

@Souls But why? how do you determine that there's a crime being committed other than by inference based on their ages? I'm in Australia. I don't see how, once the girl becomes 18, she is 'automatically' a criminal once she becomes an adult. Are you saying that unless they are the same age and both turn 18 on the exact same day the one who becomes 18 first is deemed a criminal immediately upon turning 18?

@zonavar68 In America, anyone 18 or older is considered a legal ADULT. By law, it is considered a CRIME to DATE or have any SEXUAL ENCOUNTERS with anyone UNDER 18 years old. In America this is determined based on age, anyone under 18 years old is considered a CHILD. In order for this to be LEGAL, the CHILD would have to be at LEAST 18 years old. If caught, the ADULT could be prosecuted as a sex offender.
