What is love supposed to feel like?

I honestly feel bad I thought I was gonna develop deep feelings for this one guy who has been around me through the thick and thin but it doesnt feel like "romantic love" ugh I feel bad. am I a bad person? is this normal? I kinda feel like I forgot what love supposed to feel like. I hate hurting people.

It's normal. If you wanna hack the game, understand your nature. And male nature.

We tell pretty stories. And two people deciding to be together through, as you say, thick and thin. That is, indeed, a beautiful thing.

But love is not a victory march. It's a cold, and it's a broken hallelujah. It isn't a powerful feeling, as in the movies. That's simply being high. Love, love takes hard work and discipline. It ain't fuckin' easy, lemme tell ya. And it's painful as hell, sometimes. But better than beingnalone. Ands for women it generally has to be built up over time.

I'll say a couple lines that hit me like a brick, few years back:

Men pretend to be pragmatists; but are hopeless romantics.

Women pretend to be hopeless romantics, but are actually pragmatists.

I ascribe no negative or positive value to either. Of course, I think if one is best served, they find where they exist in thar balance and attempt to integrate more of the opposite.

Love is when you feel fully safe and comfortable to be vulnerable with and around someone else. When you can immerse yourself in their presence anytime you can be with the other person. That doesn't mean you have to change your life but you might need to make compromises together.
@zonavar68 explain compromises please, like what exactly?

@xXAlternativeblkchicxX Like where you might have made a plan to do something and to include the person you're in a relationship with might require changing the plan. Say you're trying to line up a date night and because of your work, study or family commitments you have limitations on dates and times. So you work with the person to figure out what works and if you can change your arrangements you do. That's a simple version. ;-)

It's interesting.......Your heart skips a beat and you go all weird inside....can't sleep...always preying on your mind etc....

However, according to Buddhists, those are exactly the same feelings you get from anxiety! What they say is to find someone that makes you feel at home, safe and secure....that is what love feels like....

What do we all think?

@SammyJo That's a very good point, as I think that love does create a kind of anxiety, an uncertainty and even fear; fear of loss, even fear of our emotions.

You are a terrible person, you owe him sex after all hes done!

But seriously...why on earth would you think this? You aren't obliged to love anyone in a certain way. That's just not how love works.
@KuroNeko I'm not good at recognizing my own emotions and sometimes I need a little help when it comes to "love" I've only really known love once. So after months of talking to him he developed feelings for me and I had some for him but it dont feel like "romantic love" anymore.
So I'm just not sure

@xXAlternativeblkchicxX dont be so quick to label. Theres really no need. Just feel what comes up and don't let anyone pressure you.
@KuroNeko thank you
