Play NICE.. Give her half of everything - even the debts.
None of yours/mine/ours or time of investment vs previous ownership.
Split everything down the middle and where you cannot, agree on a value ($$) or barter..
Leave HER with the house and a car... Don't sell everything and put her on the street...
The karma will take care of both of you soon..d

Been there TWICE.. It's hard.. But no pissing on the other's parade..

@polyandrym66 except inheritance. That should always be separate.

@Keepitsimple Not without a prenuptial agreement.. SUGAR DADDIES and SUGAR MOMMAS knew what they were doing in a relationship like that..
The rich should NOT get off unscathed.. (INMHO)

Marital assets should always be divided but inheritance no. @polyandrym66

Take the high road in all decisions, and make no snap judgments. You chooe this person once - respect that, respect her (or him). Good luck...you'll survive this.

Try to work out an agreement prior to hiring a lawyer. If you're able to do that, you both can use one lawyer and save a ton of money.

If you have kids... never ever let them hear anything bad come out of your mouth about their mother.

That’s when you buy a house for a woman you don’t like very much.
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
@jackson55 👍️ I did that for my second wife.. It was a modest rental we owned, but I gave her it free and clear with all 5 acres around it.. And a modest economical used subaru.. She was that good, even though she dumped me..

Don't keep the house. Make her take it.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@SW-User I’d give up the house and start fresh.
SW-User
@Keepitsimple yeah I wouldn't want something that memories reminded me of a time of my life that has ended. And when you meet someone new they might not want to live in the same home you did with your ex.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@SW-User I wouldn’t remarry but I don’t even like where I live anyway. I only did it so he wouldn’t have to commute to work so I would definitely move. He could even keep the bed 😂.
-Get the BEST LAWYER YOU CAN FIND to represent your interests. They are paid to listen to you bitch and so let the lawyers do the bitching.
-Split everything 50/50...both assets and debts. Give a little, get a little
-Sell the house, split the proceeds
-Try to work any division issues out in mediation vice court
-Never bad mouth your ex, especially if you have kids.... just let the bitterness go and free yourself of that baggage so you can move on.
-Most of all...be realistic. Make a list of everything you feel you deserve and why. Remember, anything you owned before the marriage is your sole property.
