Do you ever feel ignored?

Do you ever feel ignored? Like, nothing you say is really truly heard or has meaning, unless it effects the person you’re with...and then it suddenly means something? And then you just get so angry that all you can do is talk about the things that bother you, but it never has anything to do directly with the relationship? I mean, it kinda does, because you’re living with the person, and you tell them time and again about things that they are doing that upset you. The little things add up. It’s so irritating!

I felt like this with my in-laws and it was weird because I have a good relationship with them. My sister in law has a really strong personality and so she would bulldoze her opinions and take over events to where I refused to give any input. I would help with tasks but I wouldn’t do more than what was assigned to me. It even happened with the food I cooked. So now I don’t waste my time preparing dishes, everything is store bought. On the odd flip side, when they came to my house, they ate everything I served, usually complimenting me! 🤷🏽‍♀️

@dreamsicle that sounds like similar drama that used to happen at family gatherings back when my family used to get together...now that my grandparents are no longer around, everyone has parted ways because they just couldn’t stand to be in the same room.

I've always been ignored. My feelings don't count.

So sorry you feel that way. It must feel very lonely, and I know how that can be. Hope it gets better. @SW-User

If you are with a person where you have to repeatedly tell them what they are doing upsets you, and they ignore you, and dismiss your feelings, then you are with the wrong person. They don’t give a toss about you. Over time, it exhausts your mental and emotional energy, and will have a detrimental effect on your wellbeing that you may never recover from.

That used to happen , but over the years I have managed to get rid of those people treating me that way at work. When I agreed to become the managing partner it came with the stipulation. 3 partners and 6 auxiliary staff had to go. They agreed . 😁

@TexChik sometimes co-workers can get quite annoying. I agree.
